Appeal for information after kittens were thrown from car

The RSPCA is appealing for information after four kittens were thrown out of a car in Norwich.

The tiny black four-week old kitten were rescued from an old sewer pipe after a member of the public spotted a woman pull up in a black Corsa at the junction of Pitt Street, Botolph Street and St Augustines and throw rubbish over a fence before driving away.

On further inspection a member of the public found four kittens among the rubbish on Wednesday 23 May.

The two male and two female kittens were taken to a vet who then contacted the RSPCA who are now caring for them at their Norwich and Mid Norfolk branch.

Chloe Shorten, Animal Welfare Manager at the branch, said: “All four kittens are now doing well after vet checks and some much-needed TLC. They are currently being fostered by one of our staff members. How anyone could throw these four, defenseless kitten and leave them for dead is a mystery.”

The kittens have been named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Donatello “Donna’, Leonardo “Leona’, Michelangelo and Raphael.

Animal Welfare Manager, Chloe added: “We are inundated with cats and kittens at the moment as the cat overpopulation crisis reaches its peak again for the summer. The answer to this is to have cats neutered from four months old to avoid unplanned litters of kittens who sadly can end up dumped like rubbish.”

If you have any information about how the kittens came to be abandoned, you can call the inspectorate appeal line in the strictest confidence on 0300 123 8018.
