Border Collie looking for forever home due to owner passing away

A Border Collie Cross is looking for his forever home after he found himself homeless when his owner passed away.

The staff at Dogs Trust Manchester are looking after eight-year old Duke after his owner registered for a Dogs Trust Canine Care Card. The card gives owners peace of mind that if they pass away, Dogs Trust will care for their beloved dog.

Despite being close to his twilight years, Duke is still full of fun and the staff at the Denton based rehoming centre say he greets every day with enthusiasm of a young puppy.

Duke is proof that you can teach an older dog new tricks, as he likes going for interesting walks, having a run around and likes to keep his brain busy.

Duke would fit well into an active family with children aged 14 and over and would love to be the only dog to lap up all the love and enjoy a secure garden to run around.

Carol Margieson, Deputy Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester, said: “Duke was obviously much loved as his owner had made sure he would be looked after if the worst was to happen. He will be a lovely addition to any family and we just hope he doesn’t wait too long for the comfy, cosy home with the loving owners he deserves.”
