Loneliest dog has spent almost three years in kennels

Britain’s loneliest dog has spent over 1,000 days in RSPCA kennels after being overlooked by potential adopters.

RSPCA staff refuse to lose faith and are desperately trying to find a new home for the charity’s longest staying resident who has been in its care for 1,000 days.

Three-year old Staffie Faith arrived at the RSPCA’s Bath Cats & Dogs Home back in 2017 as a nervous stray, having been found dodging traffic in Bath by actor Anthony Head and his wife, Sarah Fisher.

She’s spent most of her life in the rescue centre and now, as the RSPCA celebrates Adoptober – a month-long campaign focused on rehoming rescue pets throughout October – the charity is pulling out all the stops to find this paw-fect pooch a special home.

Rachel Jomes, from Bath Cats & Dogs Home, said: “Poor Faith is constantly overlooked because she’s a brindle Staffie and struggles around other dogs. But she’s a beautiful girl and all of the staff here love her.

“She makes friends quickly and loves to snooze on your lap and play with toys. She really enjoys training and is very bright. When she first arrived, she didn’t know any commands or skills but she’s picked up lots of tricks and is very well-behaved girl.

“She’s a real favourite among staff and volunteers who’ve become extremely attached to her over the years. But we’re all so desperate for her to go off to a loving forever home and we simply can’t understand why no one wants to give her a chance.”

Faith is looking for a calm home in quiet surroundings and she could live with older children if they are confident and comfortable around dogs.

Staff advise that she will benefit from a steady routine with access to walking areas from other dogs as she is reactive when on the lead. She is muzzle trained and walks nicely on the lead, wagging her tail and sniffing calmly. A large garden or regular hire of a secure dog field would be perfect for some off-lead fun as well.

Faith can be left alone for short periods of time and settles nicely with a chew. But she’ll need some time to settle in at first.

Rachel added: “Faith will make a loving companion and a fun play friend, and we really hope someone will give her a second chance this Adoptober.”
