Natural pet skin care company launches campaign to use less plastic

Natural pet skin and coat care company, WildWash are launching a campaign to use less plastic and help to cut down on pollution.

WildWash uses PET plastic bottles for their products, which are the most recyclable plastic bottles, however most enter the municipal solid waste stream instead if bring recycled.

Discarding plastic bottles instead of recycling them, wastes non-renewbable resources and generates higher levels of greenhouse gases, which in turn leads to global warming.

A spokesperson for WildWash said: “Our oceans need immediate help. Today billions of pounds of plastic can be found in swirling convergences making up about 40% of the world’s ocean surfaces. Our wildlife needs our help, for example 60% of all seabird species have eaten pieces of plastic, with that number predicted to increase to 99% by 2050.

“Based on the amount of plastic found in seabird stomachs, the amount of garbage in our oceans has rapidly increased in the past 40 years. We need to take action. Even a small contribution will make a difference. It is better to do something rather than nothing.”

As part of their campaign, WildWash will be suggesting ways to eliminate plastic and work towards cutting down the pollution.

Their first step is to introduce refill centres across the UK, where customers can take their empty product bottles and refill them rather than throwing them away.

As well as saving the planet, customers will also be saving money. The concentrated 300ml formula bottles usually cost £14.95 but using the refill service will cost just £10.

The company hopes that by the end of the year they will have centres across the country offering the refill service to customers, making it accessible to everyone.
