Agria helps elderly pets this winter with lifetime insurance

Agria Pet Insurance is making lifetime cover available for pets of all ages from 1st December to 31st January 2019 inclusive.

‘Age Amnesty’ gives owners of older pets the perfect opportunity to obtain a lifetime policy and benefit from the long-term peace of mind this provides.

Having insurance for an older pet can be very reassuring as, just like humans, age can begin to increase the chances of ill-health causing problems for our much-loved cats, dogs and rabbits.

In fact, Agria Pet Insurance found that the average amount settled on a pet insurance policy for animals aged nine and over is almost three times as much as the average for animals aged four and under.

The top conditions found to be associated with older pets (aged 9 plus) are:

Dogs

  1. Osteoarthritis
  2. Diabetes mellitus
  3. Atopy finding (skin condition)

Cats

  1. Renal (kidney) disorder
  2. Hyperthyroidism
  3. Diabetes mellitus

Conditions like these can continue year after year, and the outcome can be expensive, with on-going vets’ bills for treatment to enable pets to continue to enjoy a good quality of life.

However, for older pets without an existing policy, finding over can be tricky. Owners without significant savings to pay for unexpected or long-term vets’ bills can find cost becomes a factor when it comes to treatment options.

By making lifetime insurance available to even our most senior four-legged companions this winter, Agria is giving owners of older pets a valuable opportunity to protect themselves against vet bills for conditions their cat, dog or rabbit may develop.

Tom Vaughen, Head of Marketing at Agria Pet Insurance, comments, “Agria’s lifetime insurance is designed to help pets right from their early days to their golden years. We’re delighted to open up access to new lifetime policies to older pets this winter, so they can be included later in life – giving their owners reassurance over the cost of treatment for conditions that may arise as the years pass.”
