Dancing Dogs Trust pooch has his paws crossed that a special someone rates him a perfect ‘10’.
Eight-year old Benny the Lurcher is known at Dogs Trust Shoreham for being a clumsy bundle of legs, with a hilarious ‘Elvis’ style lip – however, much like the King of Rock and Roll, when it comes to dancing this poochy has panache.
Bouncy Benny is the epitome of graceful once there’s music involved and loves to bust a move with his favourite canine carer; Bellah
As the finals of Strictly Come Dancing approach this weekend he’s hopeful he’ll take centre stage for a visitor at the centre, who realises what a wonderful addition he’d make to their home.
Dogs Trust Shoreham’s Rehoming Centre Manager, Tracey Raw, said: “Benny is an endearing chap who believes like a giant puppy. However, as the final of Strictly Come Dancing approaches, he’s been keeping a close eye and taking notes – with the help of his training Bellah, Benny has adorned his dancing shows and devised a routine full of twists and turns that he hopes will impress his special someone.
“Despite being a slightly more mature chap, Benny’s still very much active in his nature. He’s seeking a partner who can keep up with him on the dance floor, join him on quiet walks and play with his favourite games in the garden. Can Benny salsa his way into your heart?”
Benny ended up at the rehoming centre in January 2016 as a stray, and if he isn’t snapped up soon could be spending his third Christmas with the charity, staff hope this won’t be the case.
Staff at the rehoming centre advise that Benny needs a home with human pals over 16 and he’d also like to be the only pet. He is learning to walk nicely on the lead and travels well in the car, so it is an option to drive him to more remote locations when out on adventures.
It is essential that Benny has his own enclosed garden, with high fencing; he’s a bouncy boy and will need space to burn off some extra steam from time to time.
If you think that you could be Benny’s perfect dance partner, the team ask that you contact the centre in advance on 0300 303 0292 to ensure that his best friend Bellah is around to speak to you about him.
