Dogs Trust Essex appeals for a new home for their longest resident

Dogs Trust Essex is launching an appeal to help find one of their longest residents a new home.

Four-year old Lurcher, Greg has spent 700 days in kennels, waiting for his forever home, despite being a loving and affectionate boy.

The Basildon based rehoming centre will be appealing to the local community via their social media channels using the hashtag #getgregahome.

Rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Essex, Lisa Cooper says: “Can you believe that Greg is even more gorgeous in person than his pictures? Greg is a lazy boy and loves a snuggly crate where he can have some peace and quiet. He will be sure to join you on the sofa once he has developed a lifelong friendship with you.

“Speaking of peace and quiet, Greg is looking for his forever home to be in a rural location. Greg is a beautiful boy who really deserves his forever home, all he is asking for is a quiet life where owners can give him the time, care and commitment he deserves.”

The ideal home for Greg would need to have a private secure garden, where he can spend carefree time off the lead. Greg will need an adult owner with no other pets or children and few visitors to the home.

To help him feel at ease, Greg would like to meet his potential new owner a number of time at the centre, so that he can get to know them before he goes home.

If you think you could Change the Tale for Greg, you can check out his profile on the Dogs Trust website and click on the ‘Come and meet me’ button.

The Dogs Trust rehoming centres are not open for public browsing, but you can still make an appointment to adopt or bring a dog to us.

We’ve set up new processes which include social distancing measures to help keep staff and our visitors safe. Dogs Trust estimates that up to 40,000 more dogs could be at risk of abandonment in the fallout of the coronavirus crisis.

If you would like to help change the course of events and help us continue to be there for more dogs and their owners when they need us, please give what you can by visiting www.dogstrust.org.uk/changethetale
