Homeless hound hopes for a new home for his birthday

A dog who has spent all of his birthdays at Dogs Trust Merseyside is hoping to find his forever home for his birthday this year.

Lurcher Paddy is hoping his birthday wish of a new home comes true this year after seeing more than 2,600 dogs head to their new homes.

Paddy arrived at Dogs Trust Merseyside on 3rd November 2015 aged just eleven months after his owner became ill and could no longer look after him.

When the team celebrated his first birthday with his just a few weeks later, they never imagined that they would be wrapping presents and making his day as special as possible three years on.

Georgina Lowery, Manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, says: “Why Paddy is still with us is a complete mystery. He is such a gorgeous boy. We thought he would find his special someone really quickly, but as the months and now years have passed, we can’t believe he hasn’t stolen someone’s heart. I asked the team to sum him up in three words and they unanimously agreed – affectionate, giddy and gorgeous, and that really does say it all!”

On his fourth birthday, Paddy will have spent 1,124 days being loved and looked after at Dogs Trust Merseyside, only a handful of dog lovers have ever expressed an interest in adopting him.

Paddy is looking for a family who like to get out and about as he is a lively boy but once he has had a relaxing walk, he loves. Snooze on the sofa and has proven to be the perfect houseguest when staff have taken him home for sleepovers.

Georgina adds: “He is a joy to be around and there’s never a dull moment when you’re with Paddy. It would be wonderful if despite him spending yet another birthday here, he doesn’t spend another Christmas Day with us.”

Paddy is longing for a home where he is the only pet and he would happily share his forever home with children aged 13 and over. He loves going for walks in quieter area.
