Mayhew launches emergency appeal to fund community care packages

During the coronavirus pandemic, London based animal charity, Mayhew continues to be a lifeline for vulnerable people and their animals.

This week, Mayhew have launched an emergency appeal to help fund the creation of hundreds of community care packages, which will be delivered to pet owners in need across London or made available to collect from Kensal Green.

The charity has been inundated with calls from vulnerable people in the local community, who are desperately in need of extra support whilst in isolation and who cannot access essential supplies for their pet.

The team are currently unable to accept physical donations of food and materials due to the risk of contamination from Covid-19. They are appealing for extra supplies of food, litter and flea and worm treatment to create care packages for those most in need, as their own supplies are running low.

A spokesperson for Mayhew commented: “Our services are of vital importance at this time to ensure that people and their pets can stay together in isolation and be each other’s company and maintain a source of comfort.

“Every penny we receive in donations will go towards providing essential food and medical supplies for animal in need. Our delivery and collection service run in line with social distancing guidelines, and we are ensuring the safety of Mayhew staff, members of the public and their animals remain paramount at all times.”
