Member of Parliament meets Dogs Trust VIPs (very Important Pooches)

Member of Parliament for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, Nick Hurd, visited Dogs Trust West London on Friday (14 September).

Mr Hurd was given a tour of the rehoming centre, based in Harefield and met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes, including Dan the two-year old Trail hound.

Following the visit, Dogs Trust West London’s Assistant Manager Jo Lloyd, said: “We were delighted to welcome Nick to our rehoming centre and it was a great opportunity to show him the work we do for the dogs in our care – all of which were on their best behaviour and had extra waggy tails to make him feel welcome.

“Like all of us at Dogs Trust, it was great to hear that Nick cares about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to discuss key dog welfare issues that we feel so strongly about, including designer puppy breeds such as French Bulldogs and Pugs being smuggling into Britain from Central and Eastern Europe.”

Nick Hurd MP, commented: “I enjoyed my visit to the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Harefield and especially meeting Dan the trail hound. It was fantastic to see the wonderful efforts of staff at our local rehoming centre who work tirelessly to ensure that all the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. I was so impressed by the huge range of facilities available to their canine residents and delighted to learn that they are going above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs in Harefield London.”

Last year that West London rehoming centre rehomed 653 dogs and has already found new homes for 450 dogs this year.

If you think that you could offer a pawfect home to one of the centre’s pooches, please call 0300 303 0292 for you can find out more at www.dogstrust.org.uk.
