MP meets VIPS (Very Important Pooches) during visit to Dogs Trust Bridgend

Member of Parliament for Ogmore, Chris Elmore, visited Dogs Trust Bridgend last week (Friday 22nd July) and was greeted by wagging tails from the pooches looking for new homes.

It was Chris’s second time at the rehoming centre in Pen-y-Fai and the team were on hand to chat to him about a range of policy areas from breeding and selling of dogs, to puppy smuggling and breed specific legislation. He also met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes including two Bearded Collie puppies, Polly and Pixie.

Following the visit Melissa Cook, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Bridgend, said: “We were delighted to welcome Chris to our rehoming centre to show him the work we do for the dogs in our care. Like all of us at Dogs Trust Bridgend, it is wonderful that Chris also cares so deeply about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to show him the hard work and dedication that goes on behind the scenes to prepare dogs for their forever homes.”

Chris Elmore MP, commented:“I really enjoyed visiting Dogs Trust Bridgend, and it is fantastic to see how hard the staff work to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after. I was impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that Dogs Trust staff have for the well-being of their canine residents and the way they go above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs across South Wales and beyond.”
