Oldest ever brother and sister doggie due seek new home

An elderly brother and sister doggie duo at a Dogs Trust rehoming centre are seeking a new home to rest their paws.

Staff at Dogs Trust Bridgend are searching for a home that can give double the love to an elderly brother and sister doggie who have sadly found themselves in need for a forever family.

The team at the rehoming centre believe that at the grand old age of 13, Chihuahua crosses Deidre and Ken are the oldest siblings they have cared for and they are determined to find the devoted pair a home together.

The inseparable two-some have had to leave behind everything they’ve known after their elderly owner had to go into a care home and are now keeping each other company in a foster home through the charity’s Home from Home fostering scheme whilst they wait for a new forever home.

Becky Burnett, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Bridgend, says: “It is always sad when older dogs come to us as they are so used to their home comforts. We understand that Deidre and Ken have lived together in the same home all their lives, so they have had to adapt to a whole new way of life, but they are coping very well.

“They are definitely happiest when they are together, so we are really hoping that anyone wanting to welcome two bundles of doggie love into their lives realise Deidre and Ken could be the dogs for them.”

These Old Age Pooches are looking for a quiet, calm home and could be left together for a few hours at a time once they are settled. They can live with teenagers with a family that are at home most of the time as they’d prefer not to be left home alone too much. They can live with calm teenagers who will give them time to themselves when they need it.

Becky adds: “We can’t fill the space left by their devoted owner, only a new loving family can do that and that’s why we want to find them a forever home together as soon as possible.

“They are absolutely adorable, and we just hope they don’t have to wait too long for the comfy, cosy forever home they deserve.”

If you think you could offer Deidre and Ken their ideal home, please call the rehoming centre on 01656 338745 or visit www.dogstrust.org.uk.
