Police dog charity searches for runners to help raise money

A national welfare charity that supports retired police dogs is appealing to runners who can help to raise some money to provide vital financial support to these unsung canine heroes.

The Thin Blue Paw Foundation – a charity that celebrates, protects and supports serving and retired police dogs across the UK – is looking for fundraisers to take part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

The charity has four available spaces, due to drop-outs, in the 13-mile event taking place on 3rd April.

Charity trustee Gemma Wardell said: “We have almost 300 retired police dogs registered with us and have provided financial grants to owners whose beloved pets have needed life-saving surgery, pain relief medication, and therapy to enhance their quality of life.

“It’s an expensive business but we have pledged to be there for all retired police dogs who need us. That’s why we need your help!

“If you’re a runner or are looking for a new challenge, would you consider taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon for us? Please help us help these incredible dogs who have given years of their lives to fighting crime and keeping our communities safe.”

Anyone who is interested in running the half marathon for the charity would need to raise a minimum of £300. To register your interest please contact [email protected].
