Pure Pet Food reveal their top tips for keeping your dog happy and safe in the springtime

Now that spring has officially sprung, pet experts at Pure Pet Food are urging pet parents to keep their dogs safe from any dangers that crop up come springtime.

As the blooming daffodils, lighter nights and warmer weather start to approach (we might still be waiting on this last one for a while yet!), so do the hidden dangers that spring can bring to our pets.

In a bid to keep all dogs safe this spring, the experts at Pure Pet Food have revealed all their essential tips so that we can enjoy this joyful season stress-free with our canine companions.

In the article, pet parents are urged to keep their plants out of their hound’s way, as many spring flowers such as daffodils, hyacinths and tulips can be toxic if your dog decides to have a taste. The same may go for any pesticides, fertilisers and any spring-cleaning products you’re using to get the house looking spick and span.

And of course, not to forget about those tasty Easter treats! Chocolate Easter eggs and the raisins or currants that are packed into hot cross buns can have fatal consequences if ingested.

Dr Andrew Miller BVSc MRCVS, qualified veterinary expert and current member of Pure Pet Food’s Pet Panel speaks more about keeping your dog safe this spring:

“If you think your dog has ingested any cleaning chemicals, poisonous plants or Easter treats, it’s important that you seek advice from your vet immediately before the problem progresses. Also, make sure to routinely check your dog for parasites, as fleas and ticks can be rife in the springtime.”

All in all, being a dog owner means a lot of extra responsibility. You’re in charge of keeping your dog happy, healthy and safe, so it’s always good to be clued up on what to look out for with each passing season.
