Suffering rottweiler dog in ‘terrible state’ found collapsed in Leeds

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a Rottweiler dog was found collapsed in leeds.

The female dog was emaciated, had sore eyes, a sore mouth and feet. She had pus coming from her eyes and gums. She had overgrown nails and a possible spinal issue.

She was found on Ashton Street on Saturday night (8 August) by a member of the public, who called the RSPCA.

Inspector Kris Walker, who is investigating, said: “She was picked up by one of our animal collection officers Hannah Williams who took her straight to a vets.

“Rosie – as she was named by Hannah – remained on a drip until yesterday, when her condition deteriorated further and the vet treating her advised that she needed to be put to sleep on humane grounds.

It’s very upsetting for everyone involved but sadly she was just so poorly. She wasn’t microchipped so at the moment we have no way of tracing her owner. If anyone recognises her and can help we want to hear from you.”

Please call the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and ask to leave a message for Kris.

Kris added: “I believe she was dumped. She couldn’t stand at all when she was found, so it seems very unlikely that she ended up on this street on Saturday night of her own accord. She was in a terrible state and this didn’t occur overnight. This dog has been suffering for some considerable time.”
