The five sisters of Dogs Trust West Calder

The locals of West Lothian have all heard of the iconic historical site, Five Sisters, however Dogs Trust West Calder recently celebrated their own five sisters.

Within a month, the West Calder rehoming centre had successfully re-homed five very special sets of sisters.

Beautiful Greyhounds Thelma and Louise were first to find their perfect family, having arrived at the centre as strays. The pair have stuck by each other through thick and thin and have found a fantastic home where they can run and play together to their heart’s content.

Inseparable Shih Tzu Molly and Pebbles also arrived as strays, and their experience in a loving foster home revealed that they love fuss and attention from people. They were excited to head home with their new owner where they can settle down together and watch the world go by.

Whatever the weather, affectionate Boxer sisters, Tilly and Lola can’t bear to be apart. Big sister Lola often leads the way, encouraging Tilly to come out of her shell and join the fun. The pair love exploring on their walks and are thrilled to have found the perfect family who can take them on lots of new adventures.

Nothing can come between loveable Staffordshire Bull Terriers Paige and Ruthie. These gorgeous littermates have been together since birth and can’t bear to be apart. Big sister Lola often leads the way, encouraging Tilly to come out of her shell and join the fun.

The pair love exploring on their walks and are thrilled to have found the perfect family who can take them on lots of new adventures.

Adorable Jack Russell Terriers, Tiggy and Ruby are also lifelong littermates. Together for 10 years, the gentle pair thrive in each other’s company. Fans of the quiet life, they were excited to pack their bags and head to a new home that has lots of cuddles and cost places to nap.

West Calder Centre Manager, Susan Tonner commented: “We’ve been unusually inundated with sisters recently. As the song goes, there never were such devoted sisters, and that’s certainly true of all our loving siblings. It has been lovely to watch so many bonded pairs find loving homes together – meaning their forever families get double the love.

“With all five sets of sisters, our team notices just how much the girls supported one another. Whether boosting their confidence in approaching new people or providing comfort as they settle into a new environment, they were always there for each other.

“We love nothing more than seeing bonded pairs have fun as they play together in our large grassy paddocks, enjoy new adventures on walks with one another, and curl up for a snooze with one another at the end of a busy day.”

With the soaring red slopes of the slumbering giants visible from the West Calder rehoming centre, the team can only assume the magical pull of this iconic landmark led their very own special Five Sisters of West Calder to find their perfect home.
