A spring in your step

Birmingham Dogs Home launches walking challenge to support homeless dogs

Birmingham Dogs Home is encouraging the local community to walk 100k in May for National Walking Month while raising funds to support homeless dogs in the West Midlands.

The charity is launching the ‘Spring into May’ challenge to support the four-legged friends in their care.

Participants are encouraged to complete 100k throughout May whether that be through walking, running, swimming, or cycling. The challenge is calling on individuals to embrace a healthier lifestyle and get out and about in spring while empowering them to make a tangible difference in the lives of over 200 vulnerable dogs by raising crucial funds.

By signing up on Birmingham Dogs Home’s website, participants will receive a JustGiving link, sponsor form, and when your first fundraising target of £50 is reached you will receive a free gift to help keep you motivated. Additionally, there is a tracker on the website for participants to log their steps and keep track of how far they’ve travelled.

The funds raised through this initiative will directly contribute to the care, shelter, and medical treatment of the dogs in Birmingham Dogs Home’s care. Whether it’s through engaging friends and family, organising local events, or sharing their progress on social media, every effort will have a meaningful impact.

Hayley Gee, Centre Manager, says: “Our aim with the Spring into May challenge is to raise awareness of the ongoing needs of homeless dogs and provide vital support for the operations of Birmingham Dogs Home. Through this challenge, we hope to unite our community in a shared goal of improving the lives of these deserving dogs.”
