Barking Heads partners with the UK’s most dog-friendly festival, Standon Calling

Natural pet food brand Barking Heads proudly announces its exclusive partnership with the UK’s first, and largest, dog-friendly music festival, Standon Calling. The pet-obsessed organisations first joined forces last year to rave reviews.

Festival goers are encouraged to bring their furry friends to this inclusive event, taking place from Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th July 2022 in the scenic grounds of Standon Lordship in Hertfordshire (around 30 miles north of London and southwest of Cambridgeshire).

Soundtracking the canine-catering celebrations will be musicians like Madness, Anne-Marie, Loyle Carner and Primal Scream.

As part of the family-friendly fun, there are dedicated areas for extra special loved ones – children and dogs! While kids of all ages can enjoy activities (like learning circus skills, laser tag and campfire storytelling), Barking Heads will provide a haven for hounds in the Main Area with these doggie delights:

  • Grooming parlour with a qualified dog-grooming tutor offering advice: With 12 years’ experience preening pups, Dee Beveridge is on hand (or paw!) to give poochy pals a spruce and share tail-wag-worthy tips
  • A talk by TV vet Dr Scott Miller: Learn how to keep your barking best friend healthy and happy
  • Insight from dog behaviourist Adem Fehmi: Hear from a paw-fessional what your pup’s actions and attitude really mean
  • A kids’ guide to dog training – tricks with the UK’s youngest online dog trainer, Tia Wardell: Tia was raised alongside ‘Fabulous Finn’ (Britain’s Got Talent’s heroic police pup and winner of the festival’s ‘Calling in the Community’ award in 2019) in a family of expert dog trainers. The talented 12-year-old will demonstrate how training from a young age is both fun and key to building trust with your pup
  • A dog coffee morning: Sink into a deckchair and sip a hot drink while catching up with fellow festival goers and their furry friends. Arrange playdates, walkies and casual throw-a-ball-abouts
  • The Dog Bowl: ‘A ‘stay-and-play’ where dogs are allowed off the lead under the watchful eye of their owners

The dog-mad, fun-loving Barking Heads team manning the stand will ensure everyone has a fantastic four-day party. They welcome furry revellers in for cuddles, a cool down and scrummy snacks… plus, an owner-to-owner chinwag while the tails wag!

Barking Heads prioritises the welfare of dogs at Standon Festival, so will provide cool mats and ensure water bowls are located all over the site as refreshing relief from the sunshine. Its FREE ‘doggie dine-in’ invites pups to get their paws on Barking Heads’ delicious kibble. The team will be on-hand to educate owners on the quality of dog food, with a range of its Tuck Shop dog treats available to purchase.

Standon Calling’s popular inclusive Annual Dog Show returns for another year. Dogs of all shapes, sizes and characters are welcome to enter to be in with the chance of winning a coveted rosette! Previous categories have included ‘Dog With The Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Looks Most Like Owner’.

All dogs must be registered in advance here.

Barking Heads has crafted a handy guide on getting your dog festival-ready for peace-of-mind as you party.

Claire Dunford, Head of Social, Content and PR at Barking Heads commented: “At Barking Heads, we’re totally bonkers about pups so are delighted to join forces with Standon Calling for a second time after a cracking first year. Dogs are such important members of the family, so why should they miss out on the festival fun? It doesn’t get better than making memories with their much-loved paw-rents and new friendships with furry fellows!

“We admire Standon Calling for creating this completely unique experience; it’s an honour to help make it happen and meet so many wonderful people and pooches. Do bring your barking best friend(s) along with you – we’ll have plenty to ensure they’re as entertained as you!”

Alex Trenchard, Festival Founder at Standon Calling commented: “Standon Calling is for everyone, and wouldn’t be the same without our four legged festival-goers. Through our partnership with Barking Heads, we’re incredibly proud to be the most dog friendly music festival in the UK, and over the years have welcomed thousands of families to the show with their incredible dogs in tow.

It’s great to be working with a team who really share our passion for pups and help facilitate so many gorgeous dogs who come to enjoy the weekend with us. My own, Achilles, will be back again to compete in the dog show and this year we won’t be going home empty handed! We’re really looking forward to a bumper year supported by our friends at Barking Heads, and can’t wait to meet all our pups in the summer!”
