Quirky canine hopes to catch the eye of a new owner

Dogs Trust Evesham is appealing for a home for Ozzie, a sweet-natured Lurcher, overlooked by potential new owners because his eyes are different colours.

The quirky looking canine arrived at the rehoming centre in April after he was found wandering the streets as a stray. Canine carers were instantly won over by his striking looks and unique appearance, as well as his affectionate, loving personality.

As well as having two different coloured eyes, called Heterochromia in humans which is simply due to less pigment in the blue eye.

Ozzie arrived with a limp and a problem with his back let. Whilst the team don’t know what happened to him before he came into their care, they have carried out surgery on his leg to make him feel more comfortable.

His medical problem with his back leg means he needs limited exercise for the rest of his life and staff think that this may be another reason why he is going unnoticed, as many people looking for Lurcher-types enjoy going for long walks and letting them off for a good run.

Tracey Spiers, Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: “Ozzie is a gorgeous boy with a huge heart and a personality to match, so we can’t imagine why anyone would wouldn’t want him as part of their family. He is a sensitive soul and can be a little shy at first, but he soon comes around with a gentle approach and loves to be around people, especially if they are giving him a gentle fuss.

“Sadly, we find some people will overlook dogs with the slightest quirks so we hope a new owner will see beyond his unusual eyes and offer him a happy home. Ozzie would benefit from an adult-only home, with no other dogs although he would be happy with calm walking buddies.

“We think Ozzie’s beautiful blue eye is really striking – he is a dog in a million and we really hope he catches the eye of a loving new owner soon.”

With two different coloured eyes and striking looks, Ozzie joins an elite group of dog-loving celebrities who have similar characteristics, including: Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr and Superman himself, Henry Cavill.
